Lexington Hospital Places
Daughters of the Nile Crown

On February 8, 2010, a
crown was placed in the Shrine Room of Shriners Hospitals for
Children® - Lexington. This crown represents all Daughters of the Nile everywhere, but
happened to be the first crown belonging to Akielo Temple. This beautiful
crown was worn by Akielo Temple Queens from 1964 through the 1980s.
In attendance for the
ceremonies were: Marlene Bingham, Queen of Akielo Temple No. 128 in
Lexington; Pam Johnson, Queen of Abdiel Temple No. 147 in Knoxville; Sharon
Norvell, Queen of Isis Temple No. 41 in Evansville; and Sally Fields,
Queen of Thebes Temple No. 87 in Columbus, as well as 48 members from
Lexington, 6 members from Knoxville, 8 members from Columbus, and 4 members
from Cincinnati. Tony Lewgood, Administrator of the Hospital and Warren
Hopkins, Chairman of the Board of Governors spoke and thanked all Daughters
of the Nile for the tremendous support to this particular Hospital.
